Account and Data Deletion

Last Updated: July 24, 2026

Delete a Teacher Account in ClassThought

  1. Sign in to your Teacher account.
  2. Open your profile menu and select My Details.
  3. Open Security.
  4. Select Delete My Account and follow the confirmation steps.

The deletion request applies to the same ClassThought account whether you use the website, iOS app, Android app, or Fire tablet app.

Request Deletion Without Access to the App

If you cannot sign in or have already uninstalled the app, email admin@classthought.com with the subject "ClassThought Account Deletion Request." Include the Teacher account email address and, if applicable, the school or class name so we can verify the request. Never email a password or a Student classroom password.

We may ask for reasonable information to verify that the requester controls the account or is authorized by the school before completing deletion.

Student Accounts

Students do not create independent ClassThought accounts. Their accounts are created and managed by a Teacher or Educational Institution. A Teacher can remove a Student account from the class roster using the Remove Student flow.

A parent or legal guardian may request review or deletion of a child's data by contacting the child's Teacher or Educational Institution, or by emailing admin@classthought.com.

What the Deletion Process Covers

ClassThought's deletion process is designed to remove the account and associated data from active ClassThought systems, including authentication records, profiles, classes and rosters owned by the account, assignments, submissions, messages, learning records, uploaded files, recordings, notification tokens, and other account-linked classroom records.

Deleting one Student does not delete Teacher-created class content or another Student's records. If a login is legitimately shared by linked Student records, ClassThought preserves the shared login and data that cannot safely be distinguished from a surviving Student's data.

Subscriptions and Refunds

When a Teacher starts in-app account deletion, ClassThought first attempts to cancel any active Stripe subscription. If cancellation cannot be confirmed, account deletion stops so the Teacher can retry without leaving an active subscription attached to a deleted account.

Deleting an account does not automatically refund previous charges. For a billing or refund question, contact admin@classthought.com.

Limited Information That May Be Retained

  • Restricted access-audit entries containing identifiers, timestamps, and access actions may be retained for security, accountability, school recordkeeping, or legal compliance. These entries do not retain the Student's classroom content.
  • A one-way HMAC record of a deleted Teacher's email may be retained to prevent repeated use of introductory free trials. It does not contain the readable email address.
  • Payment and transaction records maintained by Stripe may be retained as required for financial, tax, fraud-prevention, or legal obligations.
  • Data may remain temporarily in restricted provider backups until those backups age out and is not restored to active user access.
  • Locally cached data on a device is cleared by signing out, clearing the browser's site data, or uninstalling the app. Server-side deletion makes deleted credentials unusable but cannot remotely erase every device backup.

We restrict retained information to the stated purpose and delete or de-identify it when it is no longer needed, subject to applicable law and school requirements.
